What is a CC Cream and is it right for me?

March 18th, 2013

We talked about BB Creams in the last post, but wait… what is a CC Cream? CC Cream, or Color Correction Cream, is a more refined version of the BB Cream and is an emerging product in the western markets. It has all the benefits of a BB Cream and is also a bit more pigmented, providing more skin coverage to include minor dark spots, acne, and tone correction for a more even complexion. Again, the coverage will be minimal and will not replace your regular foundation if you have major acne scars or dark spots that you want to cover. It is a bit thinner in consistency so it will be easier to apply and blend into the skin than a BB Cream. The disadvantage of the CC Cream, at least for now, is that they usually come in very limited shades. Only a few leading makeup lines are carrying the product currently, but more are anticipated starting summer and fall of 2013. MATURE SKIN – The Chanel CC Cream is great for more mature skin as it goes on smoothly and does not settle into fine lines and pores. NATURAL FINISH – The CC Cream from Juice Beauty is a good option for a consumer who is looking for a natural glow, a more even skin tone, with minimal coverage all-in-one product. Another good option for a more natural finish without looking too greasy is the Olay CC Cream. The coverage is very minimal, but you can layer this under foundation, if needed. OILY SKIN – Rachel K CC Cream corrects minor skin pigmentation challenges and fills in some pores. It also dries in a matte finish so it works well for oily skin, but is probably not a great option for mature skin. The shades are limited and the product blends lighter than it appears in the tube, so you may want to consider a darker shade or correct the shade with the right powder or bronzer.
