Need coverage in the hot summer months?

With summer around the corner, you may be hosting or a guest at an outdoor bash. With temperatures and humidity starting to rise, you may feel like forgoing makeup altogether. But you don’t have to sacrifice looking fabulous at your next backyard BBQ or pool party. Here are some summer-friendly makeup that won’t melt or make you feel like you have a blanket on your face. One basic rule of thumb is to choose products that are sheer with a bit of glimmer. If you like mineral makeup, a great product is Philosophy Supernatural Mineral Makeup with SPF 15. Please remember that mineral makeup is not ideal for dry skin and should be worn on top of a great moisturizer with high SPF for any outdoor event. This product goes on quickly with a light, flawless feel. But like most mineral products, there is not a whole lot of staying power, so if you are going to be outdoors for a long time, this will not be your ideal option. For a light coverage solution, we recommend Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, Boscia BB Cream, or STILA Stay-All-Day BB. If you require a bit more coverage, try Smashbox CC Cream, Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizers, or Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizers. For mature skin, Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation or Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection is great. If you are fairly comfortable with your current foundation and want to wear it, try Paul and Joe Beaute Protective Foundation Primer UV under it. The key to a great outdoor makeup is to not overdo it. One last note: If you have problem areas on your skin that a sheer solution cannot cover, try applying a concealer to those particular areas and blend well with a brush instead of applying heavy foundation all over. Remember, the more sheer, the better. Your skin will thank you.
